SUMMER 2026

AP Calculus Summer Readiness Program

A 7-week small-group course designed to help students transition from Pre-Calculus to Calculus with greater confidence, stronger foundations, and a head start on the most important topics they will see in the fall.

Calculus is one of the biggest academic jumps students make in high school, and many students are surprised by how quickly the course moves from the very beginning. In this program, we will build directly on the skills students developed in Pre-Calculus, strengthen the advanced algebra and function concepts that are essential for success, and spend the majority of our time previewing the first major topics students will encounter in Calculus. With guided instruction, a custom workbook, video support, extra practice, and a small-group setting limited to just 6 students, this course is designed to help students start the year prepared instead of playing catch-up.

COURSE OVERVIEW

A Stronger Start to Calculus

This course is designed for students who want more than a quick review before school starts. Our goal is to help students make the leap from Pre-Calculus to Calculus with a stronger understanding of the concepts, skills, and habits that will matter most when the year begins.

We will begin by revisiting and sharpening the most important ideas students learned in Pre-Calculus, especially the function thinking, graph interpretation, algebraic fluency, and analytical reasoning that Calculus depends on. From there, we will go deeper into advanced algebra concepts that often become stumbling blocks once students are asked to apply them in a more rigorous and abstract setting.

After establishing those foundations, we will spend the majority of the course focused on topics students will actually encounter in Calculus. This means students will not only strengthen prerequisite skills, but also begin developing familiarity with the language, notation, and types of thinking used in the first part of the course. By the end of the summer, students should feel more prepared, more confident, and better equipped to handle the pace and expectations of Calculus from day one.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Why a Summer Head Start Matters

Calculus moves quickly, and students often have very little time to adjust once the school year begins. Those early weeks can set the tone for the entire course. Students who begin the year with stronger foundations, more familiarity with the material, and greater confidence are in a much better position to participate, keep up, and succeed from the start.

This course is designed to reduce that uncertainty by helping students enter Calculus with a clearer understanding of what to expect and a stronger command of the skills they will need right away.
