Andrew Jensen is the owner of Cascade Tutoring and an experienced educator with a background in teaching both math and science. After earning his biology degree and Master’s in Teaching from Oregon State University, he began teaching high school math at Madras High School while also coaching cross country and track. Andrew taught for 10 years and coached for 12 before starting CTC.

Andrew is passionate about building strong relationships with students and creating engaging learning environments where they feel confident asking questions and exploring new ideas. His teaching approach focuses on meeting students where they are, helping them strengthen foundational skills while challenging them to reach their full academic potential.

Jessica Johnson brings a strong academic background and a passion for learning to her tutoring work. Originally from Bend, she studied cellular and molecular biology with a minor in chemistry and has also pursued medical training through the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Queensland.

Jessica enjoys working with students across multiple subjects and focuses on building confidence, curiosity, and strong academic skills. She strives to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and challenging themselves.

Shawna Smith has been an educator for 25 years, with experience teaching everything from middle school mathematics to AP Calculus and AP Statistics. She also spent five years serving as a school principal, giving her a broad perspective on student learning, academic growth, and the importance of strong relationships in education. Shawna has been fascinated by mathematics for many years and brings that enthusiasm into every tutoring session. Ask her about her obsession with infinity!

Shawna is incredibly personable and has a natural ability to make students feel comfortable, supported, and confident as they work through challenging material. Outside of tutoring, she enjoys crocheting, tending to her houseplants, and developing her skills as a budding audiobook narrator.

Lane Walter is passionate about helping students grow through individualized instruction and meaningful mentorship. A graduate of Oregon State University, Lane has worked with students in a variety of educational settings, supporting learners as they develop effective study habits and problem-solving skills.

Lane's teaching philosophy centers on helping students build confidence, persistence, and independence in their learning. Lane believes that with the right support system and strategies, every student has the ability to succeed academically.

Lawrence Myers is a graduate of San Diego State University, where he began tutoring Statistics as an undergraduate, and ended up as a Graduate Instructor for Introduction to Psychology. After getting his Single - Subject Math teaching credential at Saint Mary's of Moraga, he has taught all levels of high school math from Pre - Algebra to AP Statistics for the last twenty years. Since moving to Bend six years ago, he was a member of the math departments of both Summit and Mountain View High School.

Lawrence is thrilled to be able to make a positive difference in every student's educational confidence, and performance. Creating connections and unlocking a student's full potential is his goal for every tutoring session.

Originally from the mountains of Northern Utah, I graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in Science.  I moved to Bend 16 years ago and attended OSU-Cascades, where I received a Master's of Arts in Teaching. I’ve been teaching science for 10 years, 8 of those with the Bend-La Pine School District.

I have always enjoyed helping students discover what they’re capable of, and I’m thrilled to be working at Cascade Tutoring Center, where I can work with students one-on-one. Tutoring allows me to support each student in their unique learning journey. My goal is to provide a space where students feel seen, supported, and capable.

When I’m not working with students, I spend most of my free time backpacking, skiing, climbing, surfing, or exploring new places to draw, paint, or write.
