After graduating with a degree in biology from Oregon State University in 2015, I pursued a master's in teaching, also at Oregon State. Upon earning my degree, I began my teaching career at Madras High School, where I taught high school math and served as the head coach for cross country and track.

During my time at Madras, I learned the importance of building strong relationships with students. I made it a priority to connect with them and find creative, fun ways to engage them in learning. This approach helped create a positive classroom environment where students felt motivated and supported in their academic journey.

After teaching and coaching for three years at Madras High School, we moved to Utah so my wife could pursue her degree. In St. George, I taught middle school integrated science, focusing on chemistry, natural resources, ecology, and earth science. I also coached cross country and track in Utah.

Teaching in Utah reinforced the importance of differentiation in the classroom. I learned how to challenge students who were ready for more advanced material, while also providing additional support and intervention for those who struggled with the content. This experience deepened my ability to meet students where they are and ensure that every student can succeed, regardless of their starting point.

My wife, Jessica, and I were both born and raised in Bend, Oregon. After spending four years in Utah while Jessica pursued her degree as a Physician Assistant, we decided to return to Bend, drawn by its vibrant community, outdoor lifestyle, and natural beauty. There’s truly no place like Bend, and we love everything from the stunning mountain views to the many activities available year-round.

We are both avid mountain bikers and runners, and we thrive on competing in these sports. Bend’s diverse terrain, from rugged mountain trails to scenic riverside paths, offers endless opportunities to challenge ourselves. Whether we're navigating technical singletrack on our mountain bikes or pushing our limits during local running events, these activities allow us to connect with the landscape and enjoy the thrill of competition. The sense of community and the shared passion for outdoor adventure in Bend make it an ideal place to pursue our hobbies and grow as athletes.

Hi everyone! I am beyond excited to be part of this team helping your learner grow.

As a graduate from Oregon State University, I came to Bend with my spouse initially to work in the brewing industry. In my time there, I loved the peek behind the curtain at how larger systems and organizations operate and how to independently solve problems within them. However, I wanted to impact the community in a hands-on way. Throughout my educational and professional career, teaching has always been my favorite way to do that.

As early as age 14, I was a camp counselor at an educational farm in my school district, working with middle school students to learn about food systems, agricultural science, and their relationship with the earth and environment. I fell in love with chemistry in high school and became a teaching assistant for general and AP Chemistry courses, spurring on my desire to pursue a degree in chemical engineering. Through the many opportunities OSU gives to undergraduate students to assist their peers through their coursework, I was able to work individually with students as a learning assistant, coaching them to persist through difficulty by finding strategies that worked for their life and learning style.

Throughout all of these years, I’ve seen the impact that close relationships and individualized instruction can have on learners. Each and every one of my students has the capacity to learn anything they desire, as long as they have the right support system. Over the years, I’ve seen my students change their mindsets from “I can’t do it” to “I can’t do it yet,” and I want to see that happen for every learner. My number one priority with my students is to make them feel in control of their own learning and give them the tools to persevere through any academic challenge.

I am excited to join the Cascade Tutoring team this year and work with students to help them grow in confidence, curiosity, and academic success. From math to science to the humanities, I love to work with students of all ages across all disciplines.

Originally from Bend, I graduated from Bend High School with an IB diploma before beginning my undergraduate studies at the University of Montana. Along the way, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain and South America before earning my B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Colorado Mesa University. Most recently, I pursued medical training at the University of Queensland in Australia as part of their Doctor of Medicine program. After completing two years, I returned home and am currently taking a year before relocating to New Orleans to finish my MD.

Between my undergraduate studies and medical school, I worked in a wide range of roles, including managing a food truck, coaching tennis, serving, substitute teaching, and working as a medical assistant. These experiences strengthened my leadership, communication, and teaching skills, and reinforced my passion for helping others learn and grow.

Outside of work and academics, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, reading, and spending time outdoors- preferably with a dog nearby. I’m also an avid tennis and football fan and enjoy following sports of all kinds. Travel and adventure of any kind call to my soul, and the ocean is my happy place!

I strongly believe in the power of community and meaningful relationships. Self-belief and the courage to make mistakes are essential to learning, and I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to take risks and build confidence.

I graduated from Texas A&M University with my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and continued my studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for a Master’s of Electrical Engineering, due to my lifelong fascination with mathematics and science. I found engineering to be the sweet spot between theoretical material and its direct application to the real world.

After having worked at two different engineering companies, I embarked on a year of outdoor work with an emphasis on connecting and learning from people. I spent this summer in Alaska, guiding trips down a river in the wilderness and getting the privilege to meet people from all walks of life. Throughout my trips, I was able to connect many of my clients with the outdoors, with the hopes of instilling a sense of wonder and respect towards nature by engaging in conversations that encompassed biological, historical and anthropological topics. Allowing people’s curiosity to flourish was initially a perk of the job, which ultimately became a core tenet of my wilderness trips.

This winter I’m working as a ski instructor at Mt. Bachelor, with a focus on kids aged 4-6. The job encompasses a wide range of pedagogy and teaching methodology aiming to develop confidence and internal problem solving skills within my students, helping them tackle portions of the mountain at the edge of their growth zone.
In both this role and at Cascade Tutoring Center, I’m excited to further develop my interpersonal skills and continue to engage my students with the same patience, empathy, and connection.

Having experienced both technical and client-facing fields of work, I’ve found myself incorporating clear communication, well-being, and goal setting in my interactions with managers, clients, and students. At Cascade Tutoring Center, I’m not only aiming to help students develop their mathematical and scientific skills, but to provide them with a better insight of their own capabilities. To me, a student that believes in themselves can tackle any problem they set their mind to, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help my future students become capable thinkers and doers.
